A 23-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Mohammed Adam Abdi, aged 19, who was fatally stabbed in Westminster earlier this year.

Awad Abdel Samad, - 23 (18.11.00) of Talbot Road, Notting Hill, appeared in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday, October 10. He faces charges of murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 4, when police were called at 10:40 pm to reports of a fight at Bell Street, near Edgware Road Tube station. Officers and London Ambulance Service staff attended the scene and found Mohammed suffering from a stab injury. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead on-site.

Samad was arrested on October 8 in Islington following a police investigation. Three other men were initially arrested on suspicion of murder shortly after the stabbing: one aged 22, another 24, and the last 26. The 26-year-old was released with no further action, while the other two have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Today in court, Samad confirmed his name and date of birth. He has been remanded in custody, with a provisional hearing set to take place at the Crown Court.
