The mother of a 15-year-old girl has been convicted of selling her daughter to a “dangerous” sexual predator, who police believe may have attacked other children. Following a two-week trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court,Ferdous Ahmad, 37,Ferdous Ahmad, 37,of Queensbridge Road, Hackney, and the woman, from Tower Hamlets, were found guilty of multiple sexual offences involving the child.
The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation after being contacted by a man who claimed Ahmad had been “sexually communicating” with a teenage girl. Police quickly established that Ahmad had been “repeatedly” sexually abusing the girl, and that her mother had been facilitating this abuse by selling her daughter to Ahmad.
The pair were charged on September 30 with several counts of sexual offences that took place between November 2023 and March 2024. Ahmad was convicted of:
• Two counts of sexual assault• Two counts of sexual assault
• Engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child• Engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child
• Inciting a child to engage in sexual activity• Inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
• Sexual communication with a child• Sexual communication with a child
The mother was convicted of:
• Two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity• Two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity
• Inciting a child to engage in sexual activity• Inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
To protect the victim’s identity, the mother’s name has not been disclosed. Both individuals have been remanded for sentencing at the same court on December 16.
The Metropolitan Police have expressed concern that Ahmad may have sexually abused other children and are urging anyone who may have been a victim, or knows someone who was, to come forward. Detective Constable Matthew Cranston from the Central East Child Abuse Investigation Team stated,
Detective Cranston further emphasized the police’s commitment to supporting victims and ensuring that those who seek to harm children are brought to justice. He urged anyone with information regarding Ahmad’s interactions with children to contact the police.

The maximum penalty for these offences can vary significantly based on the severity of the crime and whether it involves grooming or exploitation. For instance, those convicted of causing a child to engage in sexual activity can face substantial prison sentences, reflecting the seriousness of their actions.
In this case, both Ahmad and the Mother are awaiting sentencing, which will consider the nature of their crimes and the impact on the victim. The court is expected to impose a sentence that reflects the gravity of their actions and serves as a deterrent to others.
